About Us

Lemons & Letters is a collection of lovingly crafted bedtime stories for children ages 3 to 10 — from preschool through elementary school. Our stories are calmly told, carefully age-appropriate, and written so that parents can read them aloud with confidence.

Our goal is to nurture imagination and a sense of security, and to give children a gentle, relaxing transition into the evening — without overwhelm or fear.

On this page, we introduce ourselves as the authors behind Lemons & Letters, explain how our stories are created, and share the principles that guide our work.

Why Lemons & Letters Exists

Many stories on the internet are hard to judge. Some are loud or overstimulating, others touch on topics that aren’t always appropriate for young children. As a parent reading aloud at bedtime, you want to feel confident right away: this story is calm, kind, and right for my child.

Lemons & Letters was born from exactly that wish. Our goal is to create a trustworthy place for age-appropriate stories — stories that are free of fear, pressure, or heavy-handed lessons, and instead nurture imagination, comfort, and a feeling of safety.

Who’s Behind Lemons & Letters

Lemons & Letters is run by two authors with clearly defined roles.

The team behind Lemons & Letters: Christiane Lochmann and Torben Lochmann

Christiane Lochmann

Christiane is the author and illustrator of our stories. She develops the characters, writes the texts, and creates the illustrations. Her focus is on calm storytelling, age-appropriate language, and friendly, safe visual worlds for children ages 3 to 10.

Torben Lochmann

Torben is an author and responsible for the editorial and technical side of Lemons & Letters. This includes maintaining the website, publishing and updating content, and developing the accompanying articles and resources for parents.

Together, Christiane and Torben are responsible for all content on Lemons & Letters. Stories, illustrations, and supporting articles are created according to shared quality and safety standards — with the goal of giving children and parents a reliable place for age-appropriate content.

Lemons & Letters Today

Lemons & Letters is the English-language home of our stories, making them available to families in the United States and around the world. The project started in German with our sister site Zitronenbande, where we’ve been publishing original children’s stories for over six years. The German edition has become a fixed part of many families’ bedtime routines, and parts of the collection have been published as a printed book — now in its second edition.

Building on that experience, we created Lemons & Letters to bring the same carefully crafted stories to English-speaking families. Every story is adapted for an English-speaking audience — not machine-translated, but thoughtfully rewritten to feel natural and engaging.

Quality, Care, and Accuracy

All stories and articles on Lemons & Letters are reviewed regularly and updated when needed — whether for language, content, or relevance. We pay close attention to age-appropriate language, a calm narrative tone, and a clear story structure.

Feedback, questions, and suggestions from parents and readers are always welcome and actively shape the way our content evolves. That’s how Lemons & Letters stays a reliable place for bedtime stories and family-friendly content.
